Library Focus: All
Doing business as usual is not sustainable. We are running out of power, water, space and budget. Whether you are directly responsible for your library’s IT services or work with an IT department to deliver library services to your patrons, it is necessary to know about the vital role that IT can play in greening your library. In this session we will explore green IT topics including IT architecture, telepresence, storage strategies, design of computing areas, power usage, cooling, phantom loads, digital signage and lighting. There are no standards for Green IT as yet, but there are clear approaches that will result in a lower carbon footprint and a better environment and bottom line.
